Design Carving Your Memorial
There are many different ways that you can take your memories and express them through different design methods on granite. In this piece we?re going to describe five alternative ways text, graphics, drawings and even photographs can be carved onto the second toughest stone in the world, granite.
Flat Carving and Shape Carving
Flat carving or traditional carving is a basic engraving strategy that is highly utilized for graphic elements like a tree, a van, praying hands or a cross. It works well on every kind of colored granite. Flat carving is further enhanced through something by the name of shape carving. With shape carving, an artist provides deeper carving and larger 3D dimensions to the graphic bringing it to life on the stone. This strategy is most common with flowers on a gravestone and works great across the range of granite colours available.
Precision Graphic Carving
If you had a memorial design where you are combining a significant number of text, graphics, design lettering and even photos, what is used is something by the name of precision graphic carving or PGC. Using precision graphic carving nearly any photo, graphic or drawing can be artistically carved onto your granite stone. This process works very well on medium to dark coloured granite. It?s your number one choice if you have a extraordinarily detailed design for your gravestone.
Diamond Etching and Laser Engraving
The final two strategies available for extraordinarily lively granite designs are diamond etching and laser engraving. In diamond etching an artist uses an etching tool and carves directly on the stone. The strategy is only as good as the artist, is absolutely a one of a kind every time , and is a way to express delicate colors and creative creativity in the stone. The final method, laser engraving, is a process where a P. C. controls a laser that fractures and burns the pores of the granite upward.
Both diamond etching and laser engraving are only recommended on very dark granite colours and ideally only black stones. The precision graphic carving, diamond etching and laser engraving techniques should only be used on above ground monument installations.

If you tried to visit this blog sometime in? the last few weeks you would have seen a screen that? read? ?I?ll be back?.? I also deactivated my account on Facebook, and (temporarily) took all of my videos off of YouTube.? I didn?t give a heads up, just like that, I disappeared from the web.
At the ending of last year I took some time to review all my writing and videos on the web.? I realised something which at first was shocking: much of my writing and videos no longer represent the person I am.
Last year I travelled extremely far on my journey of growth and I?m happy with the ground? I covered.? However,? when I reviewed my videos and writing I felt uneasy with having an older version of myself floating around.
If you ever meet me in person, no? matter when,? you?ll be meeting the latest version of myself; there?s no way of meeting the old me because that version is always deleted.
However, thing work differently on the net?
We all have this big brother Google who knows where everything is on the net; whenever we want to find something, we ask, and he tells us where to go.
The majority of people find me through Google, and It?s probably how you found me, right?
I?m fortunate to live in an age where people can? find my work by typing a few words. All I have to do is continue to add value to this huge database.
The alarm bells started to ring in my head when I realised Google was sending a lot of people to my old work, which was created by a now extinct version of myself.? This troubled me and I started thinking of ways to handle the situation.
I figured I had been publishing content for the web for one year and it was probably ok if I started again.
The idea seemed promising;? I would delete my whole archive of content and start again from a blank slate. I went over the idea a million times and decided to shut my blog for a few weeks to reflect.
I learnt last year that Ideas often aren?t as good they first seem.
I?m happy I didn?t make a rash decision because spending a few short weeks away was enough to realise it was a bad idea. I?ve changed in many ways but my mission is still the same:
To inspire people to live better lives through my action, writing and speaking; to help people become the best version of themselves? by showing them the power of constantly exploring and learning.
Writing and speaking? can be extremely powerful, however, I find these mediums most moving when they are grounded in experience;? with this in mind, I realised? a more effective way to achieve my mission is to keep all my cards on the table, to show my trials and tribulations and to leave a trail that goes back to the very beginning.
I now feel great pleasure knowing that one day I?ll be able to send people 5, 10 or 20 years back in time to look at my journey of growth. Assuming I?ll continue to grow as I am, I can?t think of a better way to show someone they can do the things they want to do.
The journey must go on!
I?m grateful you?ve decided? to join me? me on my journey of growth. Hopefully I can inspire you to live a? better life through my actions, writing and speaking.

Mitt Romney after winning the Florida primary

TAMPA, Florida — As you might expect, things were pretty upbeat at the Mitt Romney primary party Tuesday (January 31). With the GOP presidential candidate solidifying his front-runner status following a convincing win over Newt Gingrich, the former Massachusetts Governor's supporters had high praise as they poured out of the ballroom at the Tampa Convention Center.
After following Romney on his bus Monday and speaking with young voters about the potential impact of the controversial new voter-registration laws in Florida, MTV's Power of 12 wanted to hear what policies and campaign promises drew 18- to 29-year-old voters to cast a vote for Romney and how they think he may be able to help their generation.
Hillary Brunner, 19, said she was drawn in by Romney's stance on immigration policy. "I chose to vote for Mitt Romney because I really like his policy on the DREAM Act," she said of Romney's pledge to veto a long-stalled immigration measure that would create a path to citizenship for some undocumented immigrants. "And making it if you want to immigrate to this country you have to go to the military first instead of just going to college. I think the military is a great way to show that you really want to be an American and that you love this country and that you are dedicated to this country."
Her friend, Shelly Mittal, 19, was more drawn to Romney's character. "I think he has great family and moral values and he possesses a strong attitude towards good business, and I think he can get the economy back toward where it needs to be," she said.
Not only did Romney trounce bitter rival Gingrich by drawing 46 percent of the vote to the former House speaker's 32 percent, but in a turnabout from the three previous contests, CNN exit polls in Florida showed that he also finally broke through to young voters (18-29). While Romney had reliably scored with older voters, in Florida, he won 39 percent of the youth votes to 26 percent for Congressman Ron Paul, 23 percent for Gingrich and 12 percent for Rick Santorum.
One of those twentysomething converts, Dywan Washington, 22, said he believes Romney's extensive experience in the private business sector could be the remedy for the country's financial ills.
"The key people that we need in Washington, D.C., at any level of government [are] more business people," Washington said. "We can't keep going to career politicians who've spent 20 to 30 years in D.C. ... Governor Romney is a perfect example of executive leadership that we need. ... We need executive experience and business experience, and that's why I support Mitt Romney."
Earlier in the evening, after congratulating his rivals, Romney issued a stern warning to the Democratic Party in his victory speech. Suspecting that the Obama campaign was savoring the vicious infighting among the GOP candidates, he said, "A competitive primary does not divide us; it prepares us. And we will win." After he and Gingrich (and their SuperPac supporters) spent more than $20 million on negative ads, Romney took the opportunity Tuesday night to turn his focus away from his competitors and put it squarely on the president: "My leadership will end the Obama era and begin a new era of prosperity."

A new environmentally-friendly paint identifies dangerous defects before they cost lives
Could a simple coat of paint save lives??Researchers at the?University of Strathcylde in Glasgow, Scotland believe so: They've developed a smart paint capable of finding structural defects and the?potential for disaster long before any issues arise.
The?environmentally-friendly paint consists of aligned nanofiber tubes and a recycled byproduct of burning coal. It's not especially?pretty, but that's not the point.?When applied, the paint looks and acts more like a layer of cement than a layer of paint, allowing it to withstand weather.
Should something happen to threaten the stability of the structure the paint is applied to ? say a microcrack forms in a support beam ? the nanofiber tubes in the paint will bend. Because the conductivity of nanofiber tubes change when they bend, the defect can be found remotely using wireless nodes designed to detect changes in current.
Structure collapses do not happen with great frequency, but the consequences of a collapse can be devastating. One person was killed when a?Big Dig ceiling panel fell on a car in Boston in 2006. And in the following year, 13?people were killed and 145 were injured in 2007 when a?bridge spanning the Mississippi River collapsed in Minnesota.
